Under the dynamic leadership of District Election Officer Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, the Ramban District Election Office is actively fostering electoral literacy through an extensive Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) awareness campaign. Launched on December 15, the initiative aims to demystify voting technology, build voter confidence, and enhance participation in the electoral process.

Supervised by Programme Officer, ICDS, Jahangir Hashmi, who also serves as the Nodal Officer for SVEEP, the campaign is part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program. It targets first-time voters and citizens at large, focusing on clarifying EVM functionality and VVPATs. EVM Demonstration Vans are actively traveling to all 348 polling stations across both Assembly Constituencies in the district.

Encouraging citizens, including employees and the general public, to visit polling stations or the Election Registration Officer’s office, the campaign provides a hands-on experience with EVMs. Expert trainers are on standby to address questions, fostering an interactive and informative atmosphere.

Programme Officer Jahangir Hashmi emphasized, “This commitment to an informed electorate aligns with democratic values, emphasizing transparency and citizen engagement. The campaign signifies a significant step towards ensuring a well-informed electorate in Ramban District, contributing to a deeper understanding of the electoral process.
