National Road Safety Month Commences with IEC Activities at DC Office Kulgam

Kulgam, January 15:In a dedicated function organized by the Motor Vehicles Department, the initiation of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities marked the commencement of National Road Safety Month at DC Office Kulgam.The month-long observance of Road Safety, celebrated from January 15 to February 14, was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Ather Aamir, at the Mini-Secretariat.Under the theme “Sadak Suraksha-Jeevan Raksha,” various activities, primarily IEC initiatives, were organized on the inaugural day. The DC flagged-off a Vehicle Rally from the Mini Secretariat, traversing through the town and concluding at Laroo Bypass.Administering the Road Safety Pledge to all present drivers, including officers, officials, and transporters, the DC emphasized their commitment to ideal driving practices and adherence to standard traffic rules.Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted the aim of observing Road Safety Month, emphasizing the importance of strict adherence to traffic laws and regulations to prevent accidents and save lives and resources.Seeking the cooperation of stakeholders, the DC urged the adoption of good driving and traffic practices, considering it the moral responsibility of everyone to spread Road Safety awareness among the masses for desired results.Deliberations during the event stressed the importance of using helmets and avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving.Present on the occasion were ARTO Kulgam Abrar Ahmed Kripak, along with other dignitaries, officers, officials of the Motor Vehicles Department Kulgam, drivers, and transporters.
