,New Delhi 15 January: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced on Monday the implementation of the ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ initiative to enhance the efficiency of the electronic toll collection system. As part of this initiative, FASTags with valid balances but incomplete Know Your Customer (KYC) details will be deactivated by banks after January 31, 2024.*NHAI aims to discourage the use of a single FASTag for multiple vehicles and the linking of multiple FASTags to a particular vehicle.* Users are encouraged to complete the KYC process for their latest FASTag as per RBI guidelines to ensure a seamless toll payment experience.*To avoid inconvenience, users are advised to comply with ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ and discard any earlier issued FASTags through their respective banks.* The latest FASTag account will remain active, while previous tags will be deactivated or blacklisted after January 31, 2024.*NHAI took this initiative in response to recent reports of multiple FASTags being issued for a particular vehicle and FASTags being issued without proper KYC, violating RBI mandates.* The move aims to streamline toll operations, reduce delays, and ensure a smooth experience for highway users. Users seeking assistance can contact toll plazas or the toll-free customer care number of their respective issuer banks.
