Danish Mirza POONCH 2nd Feb 2024: In a significant development, security forces successfully unearthed a terrorist hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, seizing a 51-mm mortar, three shells, and a pistol. The joint search operation conducted by police and Rashtriya Rifles in the Sangla area of Surankote revealed the cache of weapons.No arrests have been made in connection with the recovery, which also included a pistol magazine and five rounds. Officials noted that the weapons, found packed in a bag, had gathered rust, indicating that the hideout had not been utilized by terrorists for several years.Preliminary investigations suggest that this was an old hideout previously used by terrorists active in the area approximately two decades ago. The authorities have registered a case and initiated further investigations into the matter.
