Today, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Abhijeet Jasrotia issued a powerful response to the recent pronouncements of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) regarding lithium resources in Jammu & Kashmir.
Challenging the PDP’s selective outrage, Jasrotia pointed out the crucial fact that the lithium deposits reside in Jammu, not Kashmir. He emphasized, “It seems for some, the world stops at the borders of Kashmir, neglecting the aspirations of millions living in Jammu.”
Addressing the PDP’s professed concern for the environment, Jasrotia urged them to confront their own past. “Those currently shedding tears for the environment,” he stated, “were deeply involved in the Congress and National Conference’s Roshni scam – a scheme that deprived innocent people in remote areas like Anantnag of electricity for seven decades, while enriching a chosen few political entities.”
He further questioned the legitimacy of their environmental activism, asking, “Is it only lithium that concerns them, or is it a convenient political tool to obstruct Jammu & Kashmir’s progress?”
Jasrotia concluded by reminding the public that genuine concern for the environment and the people’s well-being transcends political borders and agendas. He asserted, “The BJP is committed to the sustainable development of all regions of Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring environmental protection while harnessing resources for the betterment of the entire population.”
This statement by the BJP sheds light on the inconsistencies in the PDP’s stance and raises questions about their motives. It reminds the public to look beyond the rhetoric and judge any party by its actions and track record.
