New Delhi, May 23:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India’s international partnerships are strategically designed to create employment opportunities and global exposure for the country’s youth, asserting that the world is increasingly looking to become a partner in India’s growth journey.
Addressing a nationwide Rozgar Mela after virtually distributing appointment letters to more than 51,000 newly recruited central government employees, the Prime Minister said India’s youth will play a decisive role in achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Sharing details of his recently concluded five-nation visit covering the United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy, Modi said leaders of global corporations from several countries expressed confidence in India’s young talent and technological capabilities.
“The world wants to be a part of India’s development journey,” the Prime Minister said, adding that every global partnership is ultimately aimed at benefitting Indian youth through employment generation and international exposure.
Modi said India held extensive discussions with the Netherlands on semiconductors, water management, agriculture and advanced manufacturing, while talks with Sweden focused on artificial intelligence and digital innovation. Cooperation with Norway centered on green technology and maritime development, whereas agreements with the UAE covered strategic energy and technology partnerships. He added that India also signed agreements with Italy in defence, critical minerals and science and technology sectors.
“These are the sectors that will define global growth and industries over the next 25 years,” Modi said.
Highlighting India’s growing position in the global semiconductor ecosystem, the Prime Minister referred to the agreement between ASML and Tata Electronics, noting that India is among a select group of countries with which the Dutch semiconductor giant has entered into such cooperation.
“This agreement alone will generate thousands of employment opportunities in India,” he said.
The Prime Minister also highlighted emerging opportunities in sectors such as clean energy, green hydrogen, sustainable manufacturing and critical minerals, stating that India’s collaboration with Sweden, Norway and Italy would strengthen the country’s future-ready industries.
“These partnerships are opening the doors of a new economy and new opportunities,” he said.
Referring to maritime and infrastructure cooperation with the UAE and Norway, Modi said the agreements would strengthen India’s shipbuilding ecosystem and create employment opportunities for engineers, technicians and skilled workers.
The Prime Minister further said India is rapidly emerging as a major electronics manufacturing hub, with the Production Linked Incentive Scheme playing a major role in boosting production and employment generation across the electronics value chain.
Highlighting the growth of entrepreneurship, Modi said India has become the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem with over 2.3 lakh recognised startups, adding that innovation is no longer confined to metropolitan cities.
“Youth from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities are entering the startup and innovation ecosystem in large numbers,” he said, while also praising the growing participation of women entrepreneurs in the country’s economic transformation.
Addressing the newly appointed government employees, Modi urged them to remain committed to public service and contribute towards improving ease of doing business and governance systems in the country.
The Rozgar Mela was organised simultaneously at 47 locations across India, with appointees joining departments including railways, home affairs, health and family welfare, financial services and higher education.
