New Delhi, 13 FEB 2024:Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced the launch of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a rooftop solar scheme aimed at providing free electricity to households. The initiative, posted on the Prime Minister’s official platform, focuses on sustainable development and the well-being of citizens.The Prime Minister shared on X:”In order to further sustainable development and enhance people’s well-being, we are launching the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This project, backed by an investment exceeding Rs. 75,000 crores, aims to illuminate 1 crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.””To ensure no financial burden on the people, the Central Government will offer substantial subsidies, directly deposited into people’s bank accounts, along with highly concessional bank loans. A National Online Portal will be established, integrating all stakeholders for enhanced convenience.””To promote the scheme at the grassroots level, Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats will be incentivized to encourage rooftop solar systems within their jurisdictions. Simultaneously, the initiative will contribute to increased income, reduced power bills, and employment generation.””Let’s propel solar power and sustainable progress.
