Jammu, 13 FEB 2024: Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, reaffirmed the Modi Government’s commitment to reaching the last mile by participating in the nationwide “Gaon Chalo Abhiyaan.” The minister engaged with public representatives, local residents, and women in Block Barnoti of Panchayat Nagrota, Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir.The interactions were part of the Gaon Chalo Abhiyaan, aimed at gathering feedback on government welfare programs and schemes directly from the grassroots. Dr Jitendra Singh emphasized that this campaign is an integral part of the Modi government’s strategy to reach the last person in the last queue, reflecting the government’s dedication to serving all citizens.Addressing the gathering, Dr Jitendra Singh highlighted that the development of India is intricately tied to the development of the poor, farmers, women, and youth. He emphasized that for nearly ten years, the Modi government has been committed to serving all sections of society without discrimination based on caste, creed, or political affiliation.Later, addressing students at Government Higher Secondary School in Budhi, Dr Jitendra Singh encouraged them to leverage the potential of the internet and social media for learning and exploring entrepreneurial opportunities, considering their role as a force-multiplier in the digital age. He urged the school administration to introduce Atal Tinkering labs to foster creativity and imagination among students.Dr Singh suggested that students explore careers in agri-startups, highlighting the changing mindset around sustainable living beyond government jobs. He cited the success of J&K’s Aroma Mission, where cultivation of lavender has gained national prominence, providing youth with lucrative opportunities.The Minister emphasized the shift in mentality, where even moderately educated individuals are earning significantly through initiatives like the Aroma Mission. The cultivation of lavender and the production of perfumes from it have not only brought economic opportunities but have also contributed to the overall development of the region.
