President of India Commemorates 3rd Audit Diwas Celebrations in New Delhi

Today, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, graced and delivered an address during the 3rd Audit Diwas Celebrations held in New Delhi.

Addressing the gathering, the President highlighted the substantial contributions made by the government’s audit community, led by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, in fortifying integrity, governance, and system development.

Expressing the nation’s aspirations to propel towards a developed India by 2047, the President emphasized the pivotal role that essential institutions and communities, including the C&AG, must play in achieving this ambitious goal. Commending the C&AG’s forward-thinking initiatives, such as the establishment of the Centre for Data Management and Analytics utilizing digital technology and modern methodologies, she stressed its alignment with future paradigms.

The President underscored the expectation for the entire C&AG team to function not only as controllers and examiners but also as companions and guides in the nation’s developmental journey. She highlighted their significant role in positioning India as the world’s third-largest economy.

Amidst a global market characterized by fierce competition, the President emphasized the imperative for all institutions and enterprises to augment their competitive edge through ethical practices. Stressing the importance of overcoming barriers in pursuit of national goals of accelerated growth and development while ensuring financial propriety and legality, she delineated the critical role of every institution and individual in fostering good governance, including the C&AG. She urged that auditors should be perceived as facilitators of good governance rather than mere critics or scrutinizers, encouraging their guidance towards the right path.

Acknowledging India’s prominence in the world community, particularly in the realm of audit, the President commended the emphasis on pertinent issues like the Blue Economy and Responsible Artificial Intelligence during India’s presidency of Supreme Audit Institutions 20 (SAI 20). She expressed delight in the C&AG’s proactive engagement in various international forums, signifying its leadership role on a global stage.
