In a decisive move against unauthorized mining activities, the Geology and Mining Department, in collaboration with the police, launched a major crackdown resulting in the seizure of significant quantities of illegally mined minor minerals and heavy machinery from two separate locations in District Doda.

Under the directives of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, the District Mineral Officer (DMO) spearheaded raids that led to the confiscation of a heavy excavator engaged in illegal mining in the Malik Pura area of Sub-division Gandoh. Conducted in the presence of the Naib Tehsildar and the police, this operation marks a crucial step in combating illicit mining practices.
In a parallel effort, a joint operation led by District Mineral Officer Sunil Kumar Manhas and the police department culminated in the seizure of a JCB and 100 M.T of illegally crushed material at Diamond Stone Crusher in Tehsil Kahara. The coordinated action with law enforcement agencies underscores the District Administration’s commitment to enforcing regulations outlined in the Mineral Act, aimed at curbing the adverse effects of unauthorized mining.
The meticulous execution of the entire seizure operation reflects strict adherence to the laws stipulated in the Mineral Act. This robust action not only safeguards the natural resources of the region but also serves as a significant stride in upholding the rule of law. The crackdown sends a strong message that illegal mining will not be tolerated, emphasizing the importance of preserving the integrity of the local environment and adhering to legal mining practices.
