Promote Civility in Online Spaces, Counter Misinformation with Facts: Omar Advises Party’s Social Media team

Srinagar, August 7 – Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, presided over a meeting of the party’s Media and Communication wing at the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha.During the meeting, Omar emphasized the importance of strengthening communication with constituents and raising awareness about the party’s initiatives through social media platforms. He acknowledged the pivotal role social media plays in shaping the party’s communication strategies for its policies and programs. “We should leverage diverse social media channels to inform the public about critical issues, engage in meaningful conversations, and deepen our interactions with them. Moreover, social media provides an effective platform for campaign messages,” he stated.Omar encouraged the party’s social media team to uphold the highest standards of decency online and avoid engaging in slanderous activities. “Our primary objective is to spotlight the accomplishments of our party, dispel falsehoods, and gather support. In combating misleading propaganda, we must rely on accurate data and statistics. Our duty is to present an unbiased reflection of the authorities’ actions and amplify the voices of those who aren’t heard. I have faith that our dedicated media professionals will continue their commendable efforts.”The interactive session was organized and moderated by the Party’s Chief Spokesperson and Communication Incharge, Tanvir Sadiq.
