Honoring Gandhi’s Legacy of Cleanliness, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh Advocates Sustaining the ‘Swachh Bharat’ Initiative
New Delhi 1st Oct – Defense Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a poignant address today, emphasizing the significance of perpetuating the government’s ‘Swachh Bharat’ mission, a vision that resonates with Mahatma Gandhi’s commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
In his speech at a public gathering, Rajnath Singh invoked the memory of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, highlighting how the Mahatma had always stressed the importance of cleanliness as an integral part of a healthy and prosperous society. Singh passionately expressed his belief in carrying forward this vision, which has been a cornerstone of the Modi government’s policies.
Rajnath Singh applauded the substantial strides made under the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ initiated in 2014. The nationwide campaign has resulted in significant improvements in sanitation and hygiene across the country. It has not only transformed the physical landscape but also improved the overall quality of life for millions of Indians.
The Defense Minister urged citizens to remain actively engaged in the mission, emphasizing that cleanliness is not just the government’s responsibility but a collective duty. He encouraged individuals, communities, and institutions to redouble their efforts to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation standards achieved thus far.
Singh also praised the ‘Swachh Bharat’ initiative for its role in raising awareness about the importance of waste segregation, recycling, and proper disposal. These practices, he noted, are crucial for environmental sustainability and public health.
