In a groundbreaking endeavor, farmer Manmohan Nayak of Raipur has defied climatic norms by successfully cultivating saffron in a cold room at his Bhatagaon farm. The fragrance of this expensive spice is no longer confined to Kashmir, as Nayak’s innovative approach has yielded a commendable harvest. Inspired by controlled cultivation practices in Pune and Noida, Nayak established a cold room, procured seeds from Kashmir, and carried out plantations in August. This marks a remarkable expansion of saffron cultivation beyond its traditional regions, showcasing the adaptability of agriculture to overcome environmental challenges.
