Shopian, February 12: Prassana Ramaswamy G, Secretary Revenue, chaired a significant public darbar in Shopian, focusing on assessing public grievances, addressing development issues, and reviewing ongoing developmental projects in the district.During the event, participants presented their concerns and development issues, seeking prompt intervention for their resolution. Key issues raised included the need for a protection wall for the fruit Mandi in Aglar Shopian, upgradation of Animal Husbandry in Zainapora, establishment of a marriage hall and parking space in the town, maternity and children hospital for Shopian, a playfield for Kaprin, road improvements, water facility in Chitragam and neighboring villages, power supply challenges, public health infrastructure augmentation, road connectivity, completion of roads under construction, repair of irrigation canals, enhanced facilities in SDH, availability of veterinary facilities and dispensaries, among others.Secretary Revenue assured the public that all grievances and demands would be addressed promptly, emphasizing a commitment to good governance and the welfare of the public.Present at the public darbar were DDC Chairperson Bilqees Jan, SSP Shopian Tanushree, Additional District Development Commissioner Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz, SDM Zainapora, DDC members, and other senior officers.The Secretary urged officers to strictly adhere to guidelines while delivering government services and instructed them to prioritize addressing genuine public issues.Highlighting the administration’s commitment to promptly addressing grievances, Secretary Revenue emphasized collaboration among all stakeholders for the common good and the district’s overall development.Raja Waheed, a DDC member, raised several issues of public importance, including the inclusion of deserving ration card holders.The Secretary sought feedback on drug de-addiction efforts and was informed about ongoing initiatives to eradicate this menace from society. ADDC Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, provided a brief overview of developmental and other issues.The public darbar witnessed active participation from various sectors, including Traders Federation, Fruit Growers Association, youth, and the general public.
