Nitya, an esteemed officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS), has taken charge as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Pulwama, marking the first instance of a female officer holding this rank in the district. The outgoing SSP, Shri Javaid Iqbal-JKPS, along with other senior officers, welcomed her on Friday.The people of the district warmly embrace this new leadership, anticipating positive changes and effective law enforcement under SSP Nitya’s tenure. The residents express optimism, believing that her leadership will not only address existing concerns but also pave the way for community-oriented policing.SSP Nitya’s emphasis on collaboration between the police and the public is expected to foster a sense of trust and cooperation, crucial for maintaining peace and curbing social evils in the district. This marks a significant step towards inclusivity and gender diversity in law enforcement in Pulwama. It is noteworthy that Nitya will be the first female SSP rank Police officer in the district since Pulwama was designated as a district.
