Srinagar awoke to a symphony of devotion as Sikhs gathered for early morning processions, marking Guru Nanak Sahib Ji’s Prakash Purab—the revered founder of Sikhism’s birth anniversary. Against the picturesque Kashmiri mountains, Sikhs, clad in traditional attire, paid homage with hymns and prayers.
The streets resonated with the beats of dholaks and soul-stirring kirtans as the Guru Granth Sahib took center stage in a Palki Sahib, symbolizing Guru Nanak Sahib Ji’s spiritual presence. The procession, a vibrant display of unity, wound through the lanes, drawing participants from all walks of life, each covered head a mark of respect.
Reflecting on the Dal Lake’s waters, the procession became a visual spectacle, welcoming locals and tourists to partake in the inclusive celebration. Culminating at the gurdwara, prayers, sermons, and a communal langar united the community, embodying Guru Nanak Sahib Ji’s teachings of equality and selfless service.
