In a significant operation, security forces successfully apprehended three associates associated with the Lashkar-i-Toiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF) in Baramulla district. The arrests were made during a joint operation involving 13 SIKHLI, 185 BN BSF, and Baramulla Police at Kalgai near Jhula foot Bridge.
On November 25, during routine Naka checking and patrolling, two individuals, identified as Zameer Ahmad Khanday and Mohammad Naseem Khanday, were intercepted coming from Kamalkote towards NHW carrying bags. Upon search, security forces discovered 3 Chinese Grenades and a substantial amount of cash, totaling 2.5 lacs.
During interrogation, the detained individuals revealed that Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti, a resident of Madiyan Kamalkote, had provided them with the grenades and funds to carry out potential terrorist acts. Acting on this information, Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti was picked up for questioning, where he admitted to supplying the illicit grenades and cash. Subsequently, 1 Chinese hand grenade and cash amounting to 2.17 lacs were recovered based on his disclosure.
In response to these developments, a FIR under relevant sections of the law was registered at the Police Station Uri. The arrested individuals, along with recovered arms and ammunition, will undergo further investigation.
The police statement emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, indicating a persistent effort to unveil any additional details related to the thwarted terrorist act and the network involved.
