Srinagar, September 09, 2023 (Buzzbytes) – Ganderbal Police have successfully apprehended two self-proclaimed journalists involved in a disturbing case of blackmail and extortion. Acting on a written complaint filed by Gulzar Ahmed Kasana, the police arrested Sohail Maqbool and Kaiser Farooq, residents of Kangan, who had been menacing residents in the area for some time.
The victim, Gulzar Ahmed Kasana, reported that the two individuals had demanded a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from him, threatening to dismantle his newly constructed house if he failed to comply. The suspects took an initial Rs. 500 and demanded the remaining Rs. 4,500 within two days.
This incident came to light as numerous complaints had surfaced regarding young individuals on scooters wielding mobile phones and cameras, blackmailing and extorting innocent members of the public in the Gund region. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report such crimes promptly to ensure that culprits are swiftly brought to justice.
A case has been registered against the culprits under relevant sections of the law at PS Gund, and a thorough investigation is underway. Ganderbal Police emphasizes the importance of reporting instances of blackmail and extortion to prevent further victimization. (Buzzbytes)
