In a solemn ceremony held at the Army General Hospital in Rajouri, the nation bids farewell to five valiant soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in a 36-hour-long encounter with terrorists in the Bajimaal area of Darmsal.
The martyred heroes include Captain M V Pranjal (63 RR) from Mangalore, Karnataka; Captain Shubham Gupta (9 Para) hailing from Agra, Uttar Pradesh; Havaldar Abdul Majid (Para) from Ajote in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir; Lance Naik Sanjay Bist from Halli Padli in Nainital, Uttarakhand; and Paratrooper Sachin Laur from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.
The top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander trained in Afghanistan was among the two terrorists neutralized by the security forces during the intense gunfight.
Captain Pranjal leaves behind his wife Aditi G, while Captain Gupta is survived by his father Basant Kumar Gupta. Havaldar Majid is mourned by his wife Sagera Bi and three children. Lance Naik Bisht and Paratrooper Laur are remembered by their mothers Manju Devi and Bhagvati Devi, respectively.
The entire nation salutes the bravery and commitment of these soldiers, and their mortal remains are being sent to their native places for the final rites. Their names will be etched in the annals of our country’s history as a symbol of unwavering dedication in the face of adversity.
