Woman Impersonating IAS Officer Arrested in Srinagar for Alleged Extortion Scheme

Srinagar, October 19, 2023 – In a shocking incident, Budgam Police apprehended a woman who was posing as an IAS officer and attempting to extort money from a family under the pretense of a spiritual treatment in Srinagar.

The woman in question, identified as Ayush Ganjo, wife of Monmohan Ganjoo, went to the residence of Gh Hassan Malik in Alipora, Budgam, where she falsely claimed to hold the prestigious position of an IAS officer. She lured the family with promises of securing government jobs for their children in exchange for a substantial sum of money.

Upon learning of this fraudulent scheme, the Budgam Police swiftly took action. A police spokesperson announced that a case had been registered under FIR No. 302/23, charging Ayush Ganjo with offenses under Sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused now faces legal consequences for her actions.
