Bilal Ahmad | January 26, 2024 GANDERBAL:District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson, Nuzhat Ishfaq, unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the 75th Republic Day function held at Qamaria Stadium, Ganderbal. In her address, she congratulated the people of Ganderbal, emphasizing the significance of Republic Day and honoring the sacrifices of freedom fighters.DDC Chairperson highlighted various developmental achievements in different sectors, emphasizing the ongoing era of development in Jammu and Kashmir and Ganderbal district. Priorities include ensuring people’s safety, providing facilities, women’s empowerment, public health improvement, and exploring avenues for social welfare.She pointed out that 351 works were completed by RDD costing Rs 20.81 crore, generating 6.10 lakh working days in the current fiscal. Additionally, 2858 houses were approved under PMAY (G), and 101 works completed under Amrit Sarovar. The speech covered achievements in Fisheries, Youth Services & Sports, Labour and Employment, Urban Local Bodies, Jal Shakti, PDD, Revenue, and more.Emphasizing roads’ importance in socio-economic development, Nuzhat Ishfaq mentioned efforts to improve road conditions, with 174 km black-topped by PMGSY and the Public Works department. Self-employment schemes were also highlighted for providing employment avenues to unemployed youth.The DDC Chairperson praised the district’s work in achieving 100 percent saturation under Ayushman Bharat Scheme and other centrally sponsored schemes during Viksit Bharat Yatra. The event concluded with prize distribution among students and contingents, along with felicitating officers/officials for remarkable work.The ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Commissioner Shyambir, Vice Chairperson DDC Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, ADDC, ADC, DDC members, and various officers and officials from Police and District Administration. Flag hoisting ceremonies were also held at Sub-Division Kangan, Block, and Tehsil levels in the district.
