| January 26, 2024The 75th Republic Day witnessed vibrant celebrations in Shopian as District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson, Bilqees Jan, unfurled the tricolor at District Police Lines (DPL). The parade, featuring CRPF, JK Police, IRP, Home Guards, NCC Cadets, and students from different schools, was inspected by Chairperson Bilqees Jan, who also took the salute during the March-past.Deputy Commissioner (DC) Faz Lul Haseeb, the Guest of Honour, and VC DDC Council Irfan Manhas were present at the occasion. DC Faz Lul Haseeb had earlier unfurled the National Flag at Mini-Secretariat Shopian.The Republic Day celebration program included the participation of various dignitaries, including SSP Tanushree, CO CRPF, DDC Members, ADDC, ADC, officers, and officials from civil administration, police, and CAPF. Similar celebrations took place at the Sub-Divisional level in Zainapora.Addressing the gathering, DDC Chairperson Bilqees Jan congratulated the people on Republic Day, emphasizing the values of the constitution and the new era of development in Shopian. She highlighted the achievements in the district during the current financial year and paid tribute to leaders, freedom fighters, and martyrs.Chairperson Bilqees Jan praised the district administration for their efforts, mentioning Shopian’s recognition with the One District One Product (ODOP) award. She urged the community to collaborate with the administration against the menace of drugs.The celebration featured colorful cultural programs and patriotic skits performed by students from various educational institutions. A prize distribution ceremony honored officers, officials, academicians, sports persons, and police personnel for their contributions.
