Srinagar, June 20: In a significant step towards bridging the gap between the civil population and military administration, J&K National Conference Provincial Vice President and MLA Lal Chowk, Ahsan Pardesi, on Friday facilitated a first-of-its-kind formal meeting between residents of areas falling under the Badami Bagh Cantonment and senior cantonment authorities.
The meeting, held in Srinagar, witnessed the active participation of the Station Commander Brigadier Udhai Jawa and Chief Executive Officer of Badami Bagh Cantonment Board, Irfan Hafeez. It marked an unprecedented initiative aimed at resolving long-standing civic and developmental issues faced by the residents of Shivpora, Batwara, Indra Nagar, and Sonwar.
During the interaction, locals put forth their grievances in a constructive and cooperative manner, focusing on urgent developmental concerns and the need for better coordination between the cantonment authorities and civilian population.
The initiative was widely welcomed by the residents, who hailed MLA Ahsan Pardesi for his persistent efforts in bringing the two sides to the table. Many described the meeting as a “breakthrough moment” for the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahsan Pardesi extended his gratitude to the President and CEO of the Cantonment Board for their openness and cooperation. “This engagement is a step towards building mutual trust and resolving the civic issues that have affected thousands of people for years,” he said.
He also reiterated his commitment to continue working for the betterment of the people of Lal Chowk constituency through dialogue, coordination, and proactive governance.
