Addressing reporters, Bukhari criticized the Jammu and Kashmir administration for withholding adequate electricity supply amidst the ongoing winter season.

“The administration’s failure to procure deficit electricity from external sources amounts to penalizing the people. Despite regular payment of electricity bills by consumers and the presence of installed meters, it is unjust to deprive the people of sufficient electricity supply during the winter,” remarked Bukhari.

Highlighting the severity of the situation, he stressed, “It is illegitimate to subject the populace to collective punishment, especially during the winter months.”

Bukhari further urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration to seek increased funds from the Central government to ensure the availability of electricity to the residents of the region.

The Kashmir valley is currently grappling with severe cold weather conditions compounded by inadequate power supply, affecting communities throughout Jammu and Kashmir.

The remarks come as Kashmir witnesses widespread power shortages, significantly impacting the day-to-day lives of its inhabitants amid the chilling temperatures.
