Blossoming Beauty: Srinagar’s Tulip Garden to Showcase 5 New Varieties, Anticipates Record Tourist Footfall

Srinagar, March 11, 2024:In a bid to elevate the charm of Asia’s largest Tulip garden, the Department of Floriculture has unveiled plans to introduce five new tulip varieties, bringing the total count to an impressive 73. This strategic move aims to captivate visitors with a mesmerizing array of colors and textures, further solidifying the garden’s reputation as a global tourist hotspot.Commissioner Secretary Floriculture, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, presided over a crucial meeting at the Civil Secretariat, where the latest developments were discussed. “Our endeavor is to make the Tulip Garden more attractive and alluring for tourists from all over the world,” stated Sheikh Fayaz.Anticipating a substantial surge in tourist arrivals, the Floriculture department has completed groundwork for the upcoming blooming season, with an estimated 1.7 million tulips set to dazzle visitors. To accommodate the growing influx, an additional four kanals of land have been allocated for the parking lot, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all.The Tulip Garden, recently included in the World Book of Records, has significantly enhanced the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir. “We are expecting a considerable increase in the number of tourists visiting the Tulip Garden this year compared to the last, and preparations are in full swing,” affirmed Sheikh Fayaz.During the meeting, a comprehensive review of civil works was conducted, including face lifting, toilet points, soakage pits, lightning systems, and illumination. The Commissioner Secretary directed concerned officials to expedite the completion of these projects, emphasizing the importance of a well-maintained and visitor-friendly environment.In a bid to make parks more inclusive and enjoyable for families, the Floriculture department has also installed multi-activity equipment for children in seven new parks. With a total of 14 parks now equipped with facilities for children, the department aims to provide a safe and entertaining space for young visitors.Director Floriculture Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Rather, emphasized the conscious effort to ensure children have a fun time in the parks. He issued strict directives to closely monitor the equipment, promptly replacing any damaged items to guarantee the safety of the children.As the tulips prepare to bloom, Srinagar’s Tulip Garden is poised to offer an unparalleled visual spectacle, reaffirming its status as a crown jewel in the region’s tourism landscape. The Floriculture department remains committed to creating an enchanting experience for visitors, setting the stage for an unforgettable spring season in the heart of Jammu and Kashmir.
