BuzzBytes 12 March JAMMU: Sunil Prajapati, President of the BJP OBC Morcha in JK UT, strongly denounced the statement made by the All India Backward Class Union (AIBCU), accusing the BJP of cheating the OBCs in J&K. Prajapati labeled these allegations as false and politically motivated, asserting that they were aimed at tarnishing the image of the BJP and misleading the people.Addressing a gathering at the Samajik Sammelan held in Rajpura Mandal (Samba), Prajapati refuted AIBCU’s claims, stating that it was the Congress and National Conference (NC) who had historically deceived the OBCs in J&K. He pointed out that under previous regimes, only 2% reservation was provided to OBCs, while the majority of the quota was diverted to Residents of Backward Areas (RBA), including villages favored by ruling party MLAs.Prajapati accused AIBCU members of spreading misinformation at the behest of the opposition, emphasizing that the BJP government had taken significant steps to uplift OBCs. He highlighted initiatives such as extending 27% reservation in Central schools and technical education institutions, as well as introducing the OBC category in J&K for the first time.Furthermore, Prajapati clarified that reservation for OBCs would be based on population ratio, and the government was actively working to ascertain the actual population of OBCs in coordination with relevant departments.Prominent BJP leaders including Rash Pal Verma, Radhey Sham, Suraj Parkash Verma, and Madan Dabgotra were present at the event, along with several other party workers. The statement comes amidst ongoing debates over OBC policies and reservations in J&K, with political parties and organizations expressing differing views on the matter.
