Crackdown on Drug Trade: Notorious Smuggler Apprehended in Baramulla

Baramulla, Jan 1: In a relentless effort to combat the growing menace of drug peddling, local law enforcement in Baramulla successfully apprehended one of the region’s most wanted and notorious drug smugglers. Dawood Ahmad Sofi, son of Ghulam Hassan Sofi from Solinda Khaipora Tangmarg, has been officially booked under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act.

A police spokesperson revealed, “Dawood Ahmad Sofi’s formal detention orders were secured from the competent authority, and he has now been confined to Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.”

Sofi, a well-known figure in drug trafficking, faced numerous charges related to promoting the trade of drug abuse by supplying narcotics to the local youth in Tangmarg and other areas of the district. Despite being involved in multiple FIRs, he persisted in his illicit activities, prompting decisive action from the authorities.

This significant arrest underlines the commitment of the police force to eliminate drug-related crimes in the region. The detained smuggler’s apprehension is expected to contribute to the ongoing efforts to create a safer and drug-free society. Authorities remain vigilant, determined to curb the influence of drug peddlers on the local youth.
