Today, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad chaired a meeting to assess the functioning of existing Industrial Estates (IEs) and review the development progress of new ones in Srinagar. In attendance were officials from various departments, including SIDCO, KPDCL, PHE, R&B, among others. The DC emphasized the importance of creating a favorable industrial ecosystem for generating more employment opportunities for the youth in the district.
As part of the review, the DC examined the issues related to utility shifting, infrastructure bottlenecks, and land-related challenges faced by upcoming IEs. Specific attention was given to IEs like Sempora and others under development. The DC issued on-the-spot directions for joint visits to these locations to resolve any outstanding issues and expedite the execution of pending works.
The meeting shed light on the current scenario of 1175 Industrial Units functioning in Srinagar District, spread across various IEs, providing employment to over 15,000 families. The aim is to not only sustain but enhance this positive trend by addressing challenges and streamlining the development of new IEs.
This review aligns with the broader goal of fostering economic growth, industrial development, and employment generation in the district. The DC’s proactive approach and directives aim to create an environment conducive to the establishment and growth of industrial units, ensuring a positive impact on the local economy.
