Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan Leads Progress Review of PM Vishwakarma Scheme in Kupwara

Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan spearheaded a comprehensive review meeting to assess the advancements in the implementation of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. The initiative, designed to uplift traditional artisans and craftspeople, was scrutinized for its impact on the local community.

In the meeting held at the DC Office Complex, Deputy Commissioner Sudan examined the current status of Sarpanches and Artisans (Vishwakarmas) onboarding, revealing that 292 out of the total 385 Sarpanches have been successfully brought on board.

Emphasizing the significance of a seamless process, DC Sudan addressed technical issues on the Vishwakrama Portal and urged prompt resolutions. She directed all line departments to collaborate with Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) for the effective implementation of the scheme, ensuring the intended beneficiaries experience comprehensive socio-economic development.

The DC specifically instructed the District Manager, CSC, to expedite the onboarding process, assigning individual targets to VLEs and aiming to include all Sarpanches and beneficiaries of the district. Additionally, the Labour department was tasked with organizing Vishwakarma camps on a block-wise basis.

While evaluating the performance of VLEs, Deputy Commissioner Sudan encouraged proactiveness, stressing the importance of establishing contacts with the target groups and adhering to the January 15, 2023 timeline.

Highlighting the key features of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, DC Sudan elucidated its potential to directly benefit thousands of artisans and craftsmen in the district. The scheme offers a range of benefits, including a toolkit incentive of Rs 15,000, training for artisans, collateral-free credit support up to Rs 1 lakh (first tranche) and Rs 2 lakh (second tranche) at a concessional interest rate of 5%, incentives for digital transactions, and marketing support.

The meeting witnessed the attendance of ADC Kupwara Gh. Nabi Bhat, GM DIC Sameer Jan, ACR Kupwara Irfan Bahadur, ACP Kupwara Dr. Mudasir, District Manager, CSC, Dr. Javid Iqbal, other officers of line departments, and VLEs.
