District Police Kulgam Organizes Cyber Crime Awareness Programmes

To foster awareness about cyber-crimes among the general public, Kulgam police conducted Cyber Crime Awareness Programmes at Police Station Yaripora, Police Station DH Pora, Police Station Behibagh, and Police Post Mirbazar.

Respective jurisdictional officers, along with other police officials, chaired these meetings. The events drew the participation of respectable citizens and youth from Humshalibugh, Badroo, Yaripora, Akhran, Malpora, Mirbazar, DH Pora, Palnoo, Behibagh, Matipora, and other adjacent areas.

During the programmes, officers enlightened participants about various cyber threats/crimes, including identity theft, credit card fraud, data stealing, cyber stalking, and OTP frauds. They advised adopting safe browsing habits to steer clear of suspicious websites while surfing the Internet. The officers urged participants not to share OTPs, bank account details, or passwords and provided guidance on precautionary measures for Internet banking and online transactions. Additionally, cautionary advice was given against accepting friend requests from unknown individuals or engaging in conversations with unauthenticated persons on social media.

In conclusion, participants commended the Police for their efforts in organizing Cyber awareness programmes, applauding the initiative to spread awareness about various cyber-crimes among the common masses.
