DG Rural Sanitation Conducts District-wise Review Meeting to Strengthen Mission Objectives

BuzzBytes Jammu, February 21: Director General Rural Sanitation, Jammu and Kashmir, Anoo Malhotra, chaired a comprehensive district-wise review meeting, focusing on a collaborative approach to achieve the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission- Grameen. Assistant Commissioners Panchayats (ACPs) from all districts participated in the meeting, discussing progress, successful practices, and challenges.The DG emphasized the crucial role of each district in promoting sanitation and hygiene at the grassroots level. The meeting delved into the implementation of the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP), inputs on the draft Operation and Maintenance (O&M) policy, IEC initiatives, Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTP) land process, identification of Legacy waste sites, functionality of Segregation sheds and PWMUs, and self-certification under SGLR.Ms. Malhotra urged ACPs to intensify efforts and develop a strategic roadmap for the upcoming phases of SBM-G. The focus was on finding creative solutions to address unique challenges in each district.During the interactive session, ACPs shared their experiences, providing insights into ground-level mission implementation. The DG encouraged fostering community involvement and ownership, highlighting the role of awareness campaigns and education in sustaining behavioral change.The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to elevate SBM-G to new heights in Jammu and Kashmir, with Ms. Malhotra expressing confidence in the collective efforts of all stakeholders.
