Ganderbal, February 21: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir, chaired a meeting at V.C Room to discuss the potential delimitation of municipal areas in Municipal Council Ganderbal.The meeting focused on various challenges, including the survey of the town’s population, proposals for new areas to be included in the municipal council, and the invitation of suggestions and objections for inclusion in the municipality. Criteria that might influence the creation of new wards and the inclusion of new areas under municipal limits were thoroughly discussed.The Executive Officer (EO) of Municipal Council Ganderbal informed that the current composition of Ganderbal municipal council consists of 17 wards. The criteria for the inclusion of new areas were clarified as per SO 97 dated 14-02-2024.The DC directed the constitution of a third-party verification team to authenticate the actual population in the town. This involves conducting door-to-door verification of the population census in Municipal Council Ganderbal. Proposals for new areas to be included in the town and the invitation of suggestions for the creation/inclusion of new areas were discussed for further approval.The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, EO Municipal Council Ganderbal, Tehsildar Ganderbal, and other relevant officials.
