Divisional Commissioner Inspects Operational Readiness of State-of-the-Art Bone & Joint Hospital Block in Srinagar

Srinagar, February 17:* Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the new State-of-the-Art Bone & Joint Hospital Block in Srinagar, emphasizing the significance of its completion for enhancing healthcare in the Valley. The visit aimed to assess the operational readiness of the project, which has reached over 70% completion, with the remaining civil work expected to conclude within a month.Accompanied by key officials, including Dr. Owais Ahmad, CEO of Smart City Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi ud din Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, and other senior officers, the Div Com toured the facility. Principal GMC, Srinagar, Medical Superintendent of B&J Hospital, and senior doctors were also present during the inspection.The 160-bedded block, funded by the World Bank and executed by NPCC, boasts advanced features such as 6 bedded ICUs, 12 bedded pre-op & post-op rooms, and 3 Modular OTs. The building incorporates earthquake protection using wall dampers, a pneumatic tube transfer system, and a Hospital Management & Information System.In a meeting held during the visit, the Div Com urged the executing agency to adhere strictly to the timeline for pending work completion. He emphasized the construction of a bridge connecting the old and new blocks, enhancing patient transfer efficiency, and the development of an emergency unit.The Div Com also directed the exploration of options for relocating the power grid station from the hospital premises. Additionally, he instructed the CEO of Smart City to develop a one-way Bund Road in a loop form for convenient patient access and to create parking facilities in the available space nearby.The State-of-the-Art Bone & Joint Hospital Block is poised to significantly contribute to healthcare infrastructure in Srinagar, providing advanced medical services and facilities for the residents of the Valley.
