Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, Shri R.R Swain, chaired a Public Grievances Redressal Programme at PHQ, Jammu. This initiative is part of a series aimed at addressing genuine grievances and gaining insights from the public to enhance police services.

The program witnessed a substantial turnout, including women from various parts of the Jammu Zone, with the DGP personally hearing and assuring the redressal of genuine grievances on a priority basis.
Speaking to the media, DGP Shri R.R Swain highlighted the significance of the Public Direct Hearing initiative. It aims to address genuine grievances, gather insights for improving police services, boost public confidence, and strengthen the police-public connection. The DGP emphasized the importance of maintaining a check on police services provided at different levels, viewing this initiative as an experiment for a noble cause.
Acknowledging the critical role of the police in developing peace and security, the DGP noted that while the force acts tough against certain elements, it is essential to condone honest mistakes. He commended the commendable job done by hundreds of police personnel working 24×7 for the safety and security of the people.
Addressing the prevailing situation, the DGP urged people to remain alert, emphasizing that the intent of the adversary across the border remains inimical. He reassured that while individual incidents may occur, they won’t derail normal life, business activities, or peace and security. The DGP praised the public’s role in preventing incidents like the recent one in Rajouri-Poonch, highlighting that people are partners in this fight.
This Public Grievances Redressal Programme reflects the commitment of the police to engage with the public, address concerns, and work collaboratively for the betterment of the community.
