Director declares 3rd edition of powerlifting competition open at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar, Nov 17: The Students Activity & Sports Centre, in partnership with the Gymkhana Sports Club, successfully orchestrated the 3rd Edition of the Powerlifting Competition at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, witnessing enthusiastic participation from over 300 students, including 240 boys and 60 girls.

The event was inaugurated by Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr) Sudhakar Yedla, amidst the presence of the Institute’s Registrar, Dean Academics, esteemed faculty members, and a charged-up atmosphere resonating with excitement and sportsmanship.

Dr. Sudhakar Yedla, emphasizing the significance of physical fitness and sports in holistic student development, formally opened the competition. The Registrar, Dean Academics, and faculty members extended their support by witnessing and encouraging the students as they demonstrated their powerlifting skills.

The competition encompassed various weight categories, enabling participants to compete at their respective levels in squat, bench press, and deadlift, showcasing their strength and abilities.

Throughout the event, the camaraderie among the participants and their healthy competitive spirit fostered a sense of unity and sportsmanship among the student community, reflecting the institute’s vibrant sporting culture.
