HDFC Bank Loses Rs 1 Lakh Crore in Market Cap; LIC Surpasses SBI

18th January:Amidst a 2.23% market decline, HDFC Bank witnessed a significant setback, losing over 8% and Rs 1 lakh crore in market capitalization, reducing it to Rs 11.66 lakh crore on Wednesday. The overall BSE market capitalization saw a decline of Rs 4.53 lakh crore, reaching Rs 370.4 lakh crore.Despite the market turmoil, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) maintained its position as the most valuable listed firm with a market capitalization of Rs 18.42 lakh crore.In a notable development, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has overtaken the State Bank of India (SBI) in market capitalization, securing its position as the most valuable listed public sector company. LIC’s market capitalization now stands at Rs 5.60 lakh crore, surpassing SBI’s Rs 5.58 lakh crore. This shift underscores dynamic changes in the financial landscape and investor sentiments.
