India-Australia Forge Extensive Science & Tech Collaboration Across Key Sectors

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the extensive collaboration between India and Australia in Science & Technology. Discussions included Australia’s Earth Station tracking support for Gaganyaan, India’s forthcoming human space mission, and opportunities for wider collaboration in Space Research and Biotechnology.

During the meeting with the Australian delegation led by High Commissioner Philip Green, the Minister emphasized India’s commitment to address Climate Change. He showcased India’s initiatives like the Global Biofuels Alliance and readiness to share expertise in Clean Energy and Semiconductors with Australia.

India’s strides in healthcare, especially in vaccine production and the establishment of the National Research Foundation (NRF), were underlined by Dr. Jitendra Singh, highlighting India’s openness to foreign collaborations in various sectors.

The discussions identified areas like Green Energy, Clean Technologies, Sustainable Mining, Sustainable Infrastructure, and Affordable Healthcare as priority sectors for cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting also focused on enhancing researcher and student exchange programs, setting up joint technology incubation centers, and boosting industry involvement in Research and Development projects for technology upscaling.

Dr. Jitendra Singh proposed closer cooperation between India’s IN-SPACe and Australia’s Space Agency (ASA) to foster joint projects with Space Startups. The collaboration between ISRO and ASA, including site surveys and agreements, demonstrated the strengthening ties in the space sector.

The Indian delegation, comprising high-ranking officials from DST, CSIR, DBT, ISRO, and the Department of Atomic Energy, engaged in discussions that paved the way for intensified collaboration across various scientific and technological domains.
