Indian Air Force Rescues 260 Stranded Passengers in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh

BuzzBytes JAMMU, Feb 26 : The Indian Air Force (IAF) executed a successful airlift operation, rescuing 260 stranded passengers on Monday across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. The Kargil Courier service, operated by the AN-32 aircraft, has emerged as a vital lifeline for stranded individuals, especially after the closure of the Srinagar-Leh national highway due to heavy snowfall. Since its launch on January 22, the Kargil Courier has rescued a total of 1,551 passengers.An official from News Agency Kashmir Scroll reported that the service, operating three days a week between Jammu and Srinagar and twice a week between Srinagar and Kargil, has been crucial for ensuring the safe transportation of stranded passengers.Providing details about the latest operation, the official mentioned that on Monday, 113 passengers were airlifted from Srinagar to Kargil, while another 93 were rescued from Jammu to Kargil. Additionally, 38 passengers were uplifted from Kargil to Srinagar, and 16 from Kargil to Jammu in separate aircraft.Despite challenging weather conditions, the Kargil Courier has proven to be a lifeline, effectively addressing the transportation needs of those stranded in the region.
