Jammu & Kashmir Gujjar Bakerwals Organizations’ Mammoth Maha-Panchayat Advocates for Scheduled Tribe Rights

Jammu, Dec 03(Buzzbytes):In a significant gathering, the Jammu & Kashmir Gujjar Bakerwals Organizations’ Coordination Committee orchestrated a Mammoth Maha-Panchayat at JDA Parking Ground, Rail Head Complex, Bahu Plaza, Jammu. Thousands of delegates, including Panchs, Sarpanches, BDC, DDC, Chairmen & Chairpersons, converged to express unity and solidarity with the Gujjar Bakerwals and existing Scheduled Tribes of J&K.

Participants at the Maha-Panchayat extended their support not only to their fellow tribes in J&K but also to Scheduled Tribes across the country. Legendary community figures emphasized the importance of safeguarding the rights of the already existing Scheduled Tribes in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Chairman of the Coordination Committee, Anwar Chowdhary Advocate, urged Gujjars nationwide to stand in support of their counterparts in Jammu & Kashmir, emphasizing the protection of Gujjar-Bakerwals’ rights.

During the gathering, deep concern was voiced over the introduction of the J&K S.T. Amendment Bill 2023 in the upcoming Parliament Session, starting on December 4, 2023. Speakers unanimously denounced the bill as illegal and unconstitutional, criticizing recommendations made by the Retd. Justice G.D. Sharma-led Commission.

The Maha-Panchayat condemned the actions of certain leaders from a political party who, on December 2, 2023, allegedly misled the Scheduled Tribes of Jammu & Kashmir regarding the proposed bill. The community leaders vowed to continue their legal struggle to preserve the Scheduled Tribe Status of Gujjar-Bakerwals.

Speakers at the event included Mukhya Gurjar, Supreme Court Advocate Sunil Bhainsla, and various leaders from different regions. Social activists, G&B Leader Mohd Yousaf Majnu, and other prominent figures expressed their commitment to the cause.

The proceedings, conducted by Co-Convener Bashir Ahmed Noon, concluded with a collective appeal to the Indian government to immediately drop the discussion and passing of the J&K S.T. Amendment Bill 2023, citing the interests of Scheduled Tribes in Jammu & Kashmir and nationwide peace and prosper
