Srinagar, Dec 20: In a disturbing incident, a tutor from a seminary in Sopore, located in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, has been implicated in alleged sexual assaults on minors. A police official confirmed the news, stating that upon receiving a complaint about the tutor’s actions, immediate action was taken. The tutor has been detained by the authorities in Sopore.

The official mentioned that after a thorough examination of the allegations, a case has been registered against the tutor under the POCSO Act, with the FIR number 93/2023 filed at the Dangiwacha Sopore Police Station.

“We are in the process of gathering more information regarding this distressing incident and will disclose further details as deemed appropriate,” the official added.

He highlighted that the SAF aims to assist students from disadvantaged backgrounds, economically challenged sections, and meritorious individuals.

Funding Sources: The SAF will be sustained through diverse funding channels, including student contributions, university budgets, alumni donations, and proceeds from student-focused activities overseen by the Dean of Students Welfare.

Three-Tiered Exemption System
Category-I (Need-Based): Offers 100% tuition fee waiver to 10% of students, encompassing orphans, first-generation learners, differently-abled individuals, ex-servicemen, and sports achievers at national and international levels.
-Category-II (Need and Merit-Based): Provides a 50% tuition fee waiver to 20% of students, specifically those with critically ill parents earning less than Rs. 3,00,000 annually.
-Category-III (Merit-Based): Recognizes the top 10% of students based on entrance tests or semester examinations, granting them financial assistance based on specified criteria.

Enrollment and Representation: The initiative seeks to boost the enrollment of students from underrepresented groups, thereby expanding the university’s outreach and inclusivity.
