In a recent written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State Nityanand Rai shared valuable information about the current landscape of Private Security Agencies in India. According to Rai, there are currently 21,835 licenses issued to Private Security Agencies across the country. He emphasized that these agencies play a crucial role in the nation’s security ecosystem, aligning with the key visions of ‘Digital India’ and ‘e-Governance’ over the years.

Rai explained that individuals seeking licenses for private security agencies must undergo specific training, as prescribed by the Controlling Authority. The newly introduced model rules aim to standardize the syllabus for licensee training, ensuring uniformity across different states. The training program, spanning a minimum of six working days, covers essential subjects such as the present security scenario, the role and functioning of private security agencies, legal provisions, management of security agencies, interface with the public, police, and other departments, and a section on private security personnel – outlining DO’s and DON’Ts (Conduct Rules).

Responding to a question by BJP MP Sunil Kumar Singh, Rai reiterated the ministry’s commitment to accelerating the development of Ladakh and meeting the aspirations of its people. This commitment was underscored during a High Powered Committee (HPC) meeting held in Delhi, where Rai chaired the proceedings.

Highlighting various initiatives, Rai outlined steps taken to boost Ladakh’s development. These include increased budgetary allocations for the Union Territory, enhanced funds for the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils, comprehensive connectivity improvements, infrastructure development such as mobile networks and roads, and the construction of new helipads. The minister emphasized that these initiatives are being undertaken at an accelerated pace to fulfill the developmental needs of Ladakh and its residents.
