Jammu and Kashmir National Conference has expressed profound anguish over the fire incident at Zampa Kadal, Srinagar, causing damage to at least six shops and two residential rooms. State Women’s wing President Shameema Firdous and Central Secretary Irfan Shah conveyed their sympathies to the affected traders.

The party leaders urged the district administration to promptly reach out to the affected traders with adequate relief and rehabilitation packages. They highlighted the shortage of fire posts and stations, emphasizing the need for increased infrastructure to address the heightened risk of fire incidents in Srinagar.

Shameema Firdous and Irfan Shah stressed the importance of scientific planning to strike a balance between nature and development, stating that it was crucial for ensuring the safety and well-being of residents. They called for a comprehensive approach to urban planning, emphasizing the need for a balance between development projects and measures that enhance the city’s resilience to unforeseen incidents like fires.
