Kulgam, January 22: District Police Kulgam, under the close supervision of SSP Kulgam *Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS*, persists in efforts to apprehend drug peddlers in the district and bring them to justice.A police party from Police Station Qazigund, during patrolling at *Sumo Stand Qazigund*, noticed two suspicious individuals identified as *Ashfaq Ahmad Rather S/O Abdul Majeed Rather R/O Chalyar, Chenani*, and *Mohd Sharif Bani S/O Mohd Jabroo R/O Nagulta, Chenani*. Upon realizing the police presence, the individuals attempted to flee but were tactfully apprehended by the alert police party. A subsequent search revealed *8 Kgs of Poppy Straw*-like contraband substance filled in nylon bags from their possession.An FIR No. 21/2024 U/S 8/15, 29 of NDPS Act has been registered in *Police Station Qazigund*, and the investigation is underway.Community members are urged to provide information or *Dial 112* regarding any anti-social activity in their neighborhood for timely action against culprits.
