Power Disruption Grips Kashmir Valley as 11KV, 33KV Feeders Face Challenges Amid Inclement Weather

BuzzBytes Srinagar, Feb 19:The recent spell of inclement weather, including heavy snowfall, has led to the malfunctioning of several 11KV and 33KV feeders, disrupting electricity supply across various areas in the Kashmir Valley.Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) reported on X (formerly Twitter) that out of 120, five 33kV feeders and out of 1118, 110 11kV feeders are currently down in the Kashmir Division. The corporation assured the public that efforts are underway to restore the affected feeders and resolve the faults contributing to the power outage.KPDCL emphasized that the recorded load on February 19 was 1450 Megawatts (MW), and the status of feeders might fluctuate due to the dynamic nature of the system and challenging weather conditions.Chief Engineer Distribution at KPDCL, Sandeep Seth, assured the public that the department is working tirelessly to address the electricity disruptions caused by the downed feeders. Seth stated, “Our employees are continuously restoring electricity in the affected areas. We have almost reinstated 80-90 percent of the power in all regions.”As the corporation faces the challenges posed by the ongoing inclement weather, the commitment of KPDCL to restoring power highlights the resilience and dedication of the team in ensuring a swift recovery of electricity supply for the affected residents.
