New Delhi, Aug 11 (BuzzBytes): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the autobiography of former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, titled “Triumph of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles”, on August 12, 2026, at 9:30 AM at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion. The release of the autobiography by the Prime Minister will mark a significant occasion celebrating the life and contributions of one of India’s most distinguished public figures. The autobiography offers a deeply personal account of Ram Nath Kovind’s remarkable life journey, tracing his experiences, struggles and achievements from his early years to his distinguished public life and eventual service as the 14th President of India. The book provides insights into the values, experiences and circumstances that shaped his journey and public service. 2. Multi-Layered Security Arrangements In Place Across Kashmir For Independence Day: IGP Birdi
Says arrangements extended beyond venues to Srinagar city, all Valley districts; Bakshi Stadium, Maulana Azad Stadium placed under tight security cover; SOG, CRPF carry out checking at Lal Chowk
Srinagar, Aug 11 (BuzzBytes): Multi-layered security arrangements have been put in place across Srinagar and other districts of Kashmir Valley for the smooth conduct of Independence Day celebrations on August 15, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi said on Tuesday. Birdi, who was speaking to media persons in Srinagar during a visit to the Balidan Stambh at Lal Chowk, said preparations for the main Independence Day function in Srinagar, including rehearsals and the full dress rehearsal for the parade, are underway.
“On August 15, the main function of Srinagar will take place. For that, all the security arrangements and preparations for the parade are going on. Full dress rehearsals and rehearsals are being organised so that the main function is completed successfully,” he said.
The IGP said security arrangements were not confined to the main venue but had been extended across Srinagar city and all districts of the Valley. “There are multi-layered security arrangements in Srinagar. Not only at the venues, but there are also multi-layered security arrangements around the city. The arrangements will be in the same way this time as well,” Birdi said.
Asked about the investigation into two recent terror attacks in south Kashmir and whether security agencies had made any headway, the police officer said details could not be disclosed at this stage. “It is a matter of investigation. I don’t think it is appropriate to reveal it now. Whenever there are such things that will be shared with you, we will share it with you at the right time,” he said.
Birdi also appealed to people to participate in the Independence Day celebrations in large numbers, saying the event belonged to the public. “This is the function of the public. The police work as an organiser in this. And because this is the function of the public, we tell people to participate in this function in large numbers,” he said. Speaking separately to reporters, the IGP added, “It is a people’s function. We are only organizers. People should participate in large numbers.”
A high alert has been sounded across Jammu and Kashmir for the Independence Day celebrations and extraordinary security measures have been put in place. The areas around Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar and Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu have been placed under a tight security cover, with forces ordered to remain deployed round the clock to pre-empt any untoward incident. Both stadiums have been searched ahead of the functions and the services of sniffer dogs were pressed into use.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will unfurl the National Flag at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, this year and will take the salute at the march past and receive the guard of honour. Three tier security arrangements have been made around the stadium, and officials as well as members of the public will be allowed inside only after checking that includes the deployment of sniffer dogs. Cordons of police and security forces have been established around the stadium and checking points have been set up on roads leading to the venue. Sharpshooters have been deployed and the movement of people is being monitored through CCTV cameras.
At Lal Chowk and adjoining areas of Srinagar, personnel of the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with CRPF, carried out a special checking drive during which pedestrians and vehicles were searched in detail and questioned. Security agencies said adequate arrangements have also been made on important highways and at entry and exit points so that the movement of the public remains convenient without any compromise on security, and that continuous reviews are being carried out to identify possible threats. 3. Search Operation Launched In Poonch Forests After Suspicious Movement Near Under Construction Tunnel
Security guard fires three to four rounds as precaution; joint operation by Police, SOG and CRPF underway in Bhatadhurian, Sangiote belt
Poonch, Aug 11 (BuzzBytes): Security forces launched a large scale joint search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Tuesday morning after reports of suspicious movement, officials said. According to officials, the operation was launched after suspicious movement was noticed near an under construction tunnel in the Mendhar sector of the district.
Officials said a security guard on duty at the construction site noticed the suspicious movement and, as a precautionary measure, fired three to four rounds. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported in the incident, they said.
Following the incident, personnel of the police, the Special Operations Group and the CRPF launched a joint search operation at around 6 am. The search is continuing in the Bhatadhurian and Sangiote areas of Mendhar in Poonch and the adjoining forest belts.
Security personnel are combing possible routes of movement and forested stretches in the area. Officials said the search operation was continuing in the area and further details were awaited. The operation comes days ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, for which security has been tightened across Jammu and Kashmir, with particular attention to forested and hilly stretches along the belt—(BuzzBytes)
