Jammu, Aug 18 (BuzzBytes ): Security forces on Tuesday launched search operations at several locations in Udhampur, Reasi and Kathua districts following reports of suspicious movement. Official sources said joint teams of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation in Talot village of Udhampur after receiving information about the suspected movement of some persons in the area late Monday night. Officials said two suspected persons, wearing shawls, knocked repeatedly at the residence of a villager identified as Prakash Chand and asked for food. The residents did not open the door and alerted security forces after the duo left the area towards Khuban. The information prompted the deployment of joint police and CRPF teams, which cordoned the area and launched searches to trace the two persons. Security forces also conducted a search operation in the Sadini forests of Pouni in Reasi district following separate reports of suspicious movement there. “The operations were launched as a precautionary measure to verify the inputs and ensure the safety and security of the local population. Security personnel are maintaining a close vigil and thoroughly checking vulnerable areas,” an official said. In Kathua, searches were conducted in several villages near the International Border in the Hiranagar sector as part of the same security exercise. Deputy Inspector General, Udhampur-Reasi Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma said security forces are acting promptly on inputs received from villagers and are maintaining close vigil to ensure public safety, adding that the operation is continuing.
