Tranquil Spell: Jammu and Kashmir Set for Dry Spell Till December 28, MeT Assures

The Meteorological Department has forecasted a serene weather outlook for Jammu and Kashmir, with no significant weather activity anticipated until December 28. In the past 24 hours, higher reaches including Gulmarg, Gurez, Machil, Tanghdar, Mughal Road, and Sinthan Pass have experienced light snowfall.

An official from MeT informed Kashmir Scroll that the period from December 17 to 22 will witness generally dry conditions. However, on December 23, there is an expectation of generally cloudy weather with a possibility of light snow on isolated higher reaches.

From December 24 to 28, the weather is predicted to remain generally dry. The MeT official emphasized an overall absence of significant weather activity during this period.

In terms of temperatures, a decline of 2-4°C is anticipated from December 18 onwards, ushering in a widespread cold snap across Jammu and Kashmir. As winter takes a firm grip, key stations report chilly temperatures – Srinagar at minus 0.5°C, Qazigund at 0.0°C, Kokernag at minus 0.8°C, Pahalgam at minus 1.5°C, and Kupwara at 1.1°C.
