Buzzbytes, New Delhi, Dec 21: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju voiced strong opposition against leaders from the Congress and the DMK, condemning their critical remarks on the recent pivotal Supreme Court verdict. The landmark ruling upheld the abrogation of special constitutional provisions under Article 370 for Jammu and Kashmir, subsequently establishing it as separate Union Territories — Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Taking to his official platform on X, Rijiju shared a video excerpt from the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament, highlighting the contentious remarks made by DMK MP Mohamad Abdulla and Congress member Venugopal. He emphasized, “The disparaging remarks directed at the Supreme Court not only undermine its authority but also pose a significant threat to our nation’s unity.”
The shared video captured a tense exchange in the Rajya Sabha, wherein the MPs criticized the apex court’s verdict, eliciting a stern response from Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. Dhankhar reprimanded the members, asserting that “challenging the judgement of the highest judicial institution is unacceptable.”
Further elucidating his stance, Rijiju warned against the ramifications of such criticism, stating, “India prides itself on its rich diversity. However, if we entertain agendas propagated by Congress and DMK, it jeopardizes our national integrity. Freedom of speech should not be misconstrued as a platform for advocating self-determination.” His remarks underscore the significance of respecting judicial decisions and fostering unity amidst diverse ideologies.
