Home Minister tells J&K BJP delegation that Modi government stands firmly by zero tolerance policy; assures action on genuine public concerns
New Delhi, Aug 13 (BuzzBytes): Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has said the Central Government will continue its efforts to further strengthen the security framework in Jammu and Kashmir and to dismantle the entire support system of terrorism, including overground workers. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India is fully committed to protecting the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Home Minister met a high level delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party from Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi in the presence of Union Health Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda. During the meeting the Union Home Minister said the Modi government stands firmly by its policy of zero tolerance against terrorism.
He said the Central Government would continue to work towards further stabilising the security system in Jammu and Kashmir, accelerating the development process, expanding welfare measures and delivering better governance to every section of society.
He assured the BJP delegation that whatever genuine issues and concerns relating to the people of Jammu and Kashmir had been placed before him would receive appropriate attention, and that necessary steps would be taken to redress public difficulties.
During the meeting the BJP delegation expressed serious concern over the performance of the National Conference led government in Jammu and Kashmir. The delegation alleged that after the present government assumed office the difficulties of ordinary people have increased and that dissatisfaction and resentment among the public over the government’s performance is growing.
The delegation apprised the Union Home Minister and the Union Health Minister of the current administrative, political and security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP leaders alleged that despite securing a public mandate, the NC government has failed to provide accountable and effective governance to the people, and that the government’s attention is focused more on political allegations and other matters.
The delegation said that important issues relating to employment, civic amenities, infrastructure development, public welfare and administrative performance continue to demand attention, as a result of which frustration and unease is being created among ordinary people.
The BJP leaders urged the central leadership that the pace of the development process started in Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi should not be allowed to be affected because of present administrative weaknesses.
The security situation of Jammu and Kashmir was also reviewed in detail during the meeting. The BJP delegation said that as a result of the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the decisive leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir has been significantly weakened.
According to the delegation, the improved security situation has created new possibilities for investment, tourism, infrastructure expansion and economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir, and confidence has been restored among various sections.
The BJP leaders also praised the peaceful, organised and successful conduct of the annual Amarnath Yatra. The delegation appreciated the joint efforts of the security forces, the civil administration and other concerned agencies in ensuring the safe completion of the Yatra. The BJP leaders said that the safe movement of a large number of pilgrims and the successful conduct of the Yatra reflects the improvement in security and administrative preparedness in Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation included BJP National General Secretary, Rajya Sabha member and party in charge of Jammu and Kashmir Tarun Chugh, BJP Jammu and Kashmir President and Rajya Sabha member Sat Sharma, Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Sunil Sharma and Lok Sabha member Jugal Kishore Sharma.
During the meeting the delegation placed before the central leadership various matters relating to governance, public problems, the political situation, development activities and security in Jammu and Kashmir and pressed for their early redressal—((BuzzBytes)
