In a momentous event at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall, Budgam, Commissioner Secretary Saurabh Bhagat presided over the concluding function of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) program, emphasizing Budgam’s pivotal role in leading developmental initiatives.

Commissioner Secretary Bhagat commended the District Administration for efficiently organizing the VBSY program across all 296 Panchayats and highlighted ongoing developmental efforts in urban areas. Swift infrastructure development across various sectors is underway to ensure rapid progress.

Bhagat pointed out the district’s significant facilities, including the NIFT Campus, Srinagar International Airport, and Main Railway Station. Ongoing projects such as ESIC and the New District Hospital are expected to enhance healthcare services. He underscored Budgam’s role in promoting tourism, attracting tourists to picturesque locations like Doodhpatri, Yousmarg, and Tosamaidan.

Commending Budgam’s Beautification Phase-I, Bhagat announced Phase-II, aiming for further town enhancement. He stressed VBSY’s goal of covering people under central schemes and flagship initiatives, ensuring development while incorporating public feedback.

The Commissioner Secretary inspected special camps showcasing departmental products and awareness of schemes. The event saw a large gathering from all local wards of Budgam, with a flower ceremony for the VBSY Van and an Izband ceremony. Sankalp pledges were undertaken, emphasizing commitment to development.

Deputy Commissioner Akshay Labroo highlighted successful VBSY conduct and committed to completing major infrastructural projects promptly. He detailed completed projects, including PRIs Accommodation, Integrated Lavatory, and ongoing efforts like the New Bus Terminal and Mobile Network towers installation.

The VBSY initiative included skits, cultural events, and singing the Swacchta song. Enthusiastic participants welcomed the VBSY Van, screening the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s message and other awareness-generating movies.

Achievers in various fields were felicitated, and beneficiaries under PMAY (Urban) received sanction letters and keys. Bhagat, along with district officials, recognized exemplary work contributing to the district’s growth.

DC Labroo reiterated the commitment to infrastructure development without diversion of funds and time, emphasizing the district administration’s focus on this objective under senior officers’ guidance.

The VBSY program, part of a nationwide outreach initiative, aimed to inform and empower citizens about the Centre’s flagship schemes. The event’s success was evident in the participation of various district and sectoral officers, highlighting a collective commitment to development.
